Cross Stitch Roses

I made this piece as a gift for my parents when I first started cross-stitching in the early 90's. It was my first attempt at using linen instead of aida cloth...that is, instead of having specific "holes" in which to pull the threads through, you have to count the threads double across and down on the linen. It was a lot of work and you have to use a small needle, but it is the perfect cloth to do a finely detailed piece ... and the background ends up looking so nice without a bunch of large holes in the cloth!
