In Week One, I wanted to learn different stitches, increasing, decreasing and shaping. So I chose a free pattern on Ravelry and bought this beautiful Rowan wool:
About a week later my stuffed toy lamb was done! I named him "Woolseley" - a combination of the name of the shop we are taking classes at: Wolseley Wool. They loved that.
For Week Two, I wanted to make a sweater. But because we just have a short time to seek guidance, I thought I would do a sweater for Woolsely. I figured if I could make HIM one, I could do a human-sized one later on. Unfortunately, this sweater is a bit small for him. So Sam (my traveling buddy) was the lucky recipient:
So far I have learned different cast-on methods, new stitches, how to read knitting charts, how to use circular needles, how to change colours and even how to wind a skein of wool from a swift into a cake ready to use!
This past Thursday I bravely delved into the world of home-made socks. With one week left, I can get help
It's been so much fun and spending time on Ravelry forums has been a great way to learn, share and admire all kinds of yarns and projects too. Yep, I am hooked alright...
But in a good way.
Wow, that is a TON of learning and progress in a short amount of time! Both lamb and sweater are so cute!

DeleteWow, love love the lamb and the sweater! Good for you taking lessons and spending time with your daughter, a total win win!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing more!

Thanks Fredrikke!
DeleteYou must have the patience and knack for those knitting needles. I have always just found them frustrating!
ReplyDeleteI find it rather relaxing (well, once I get the knack of a pattern, that is) and a good way to spend down time actually producing something!
